Safety Features of Gas Skid Equipment
Gas skids are designed for commercial applications but
keeping in mind the industrial safety features for the safe
and trouble-free operation for a lifetime.
Following are the salient safety features of the equipment:
Overheating protection: Overheating of the heated
fluid because of inadequate water flow or defective valve
modulation causing high outlet temperature is protected
by a thermal cut out to switch off the burners by closing
the gas inlet valve.
Flame failure protection: In case the flame of the burners fails and extinguishes for any reason like high wind, water splashing, or partial burner jet choking even if the gas supply is on, this phenomenon releases the unburnt gas in the atmosphere causing the hazard. A thermocouple
sensing the gas temperature online detects the failure and shuts off the gas inlet valve.
Dry run protection: There has to be a continuous water flow through the heat exchanger to absorb energy. In case the water stops or the quantity is too low to absorb the healing energy, it causes the dry run situation and a flow switch shuts off the gas inlet valve.
Air supply failure: An exhaust fan provides the necessary airflow for the gas to burn properly. In the case of the fan failure to run or an obstruction in the air path, a differential pressure switch to sense the airflow will shut off the gas inlet valve.
